UPDATE: On Sunday 16th June, a bevy of Dr Who’s former companions were among 450 people who took part in a jungle-inspired fundraising walk in London in aid of HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust.

Louise Jameson (Leela, 1977-78), Freema Agyeman (played Martha Jones ,2006-10), Sophie Aldred (Ace, 1987-89) and Katy Manning (Jo Grant, 1971-73) swapped travelling space and time for a sponsored walk through the streets of London at this year’s ‘Really Wild’ themed Walk for Life.

Taking part in the walk with Gay Times magazine’s team, the actresses raised funds for Terrence Higgins Trust’s Hardship Fund, which supports people with HIV in severe financial need.

The 10km route saw walkers set off from Bloomsbury Square Gardens, winding their way through the City of London, across Tower Bridge and along the South Bank, before heading back over Waterloo Bridge to the finish line.

Walk For Life was founded in 1989, when HIV charity Crusaid set up the event to raise awareness of HIV. In 2010, Crusaid merged with Terrence Higgins Trust, who have been running Walk for Life since.
